Beginning Monday evening, three busy intersections in Yuma will be closed overnight for three days due to a slurry seal project to preserve the roadway’s surfaces.

According to the Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT), crews are scheduled to work from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. on Monday, June 19; Tuesday, June 20; and Wednesday, June 21, at the following locations:

• Pacific Avenue and East Gila Ridge Road;

• Araby Road (Highway 195) and 32nd Street; and

• Avenue 8 ½ E (the eastbound Interstate 8 off ramp) and 32nd Street.

The eastbound off-ramp at Interstate 8 and Avenue 8 ½ E will also be closed.

Motorists are advised to use alternate routes, watch for law enforcement on-site directing traffic, and observe reduced speed limits.

The slurry seal that maintenance crews will apply to the roadway not only protects the pavement, but also extends its lifespan.

Crews will return to the work zones in July for lane striping.

Schedules are subject to change based on weather and other unforeseen factors.
