The Desert Hills Pro Shop is sponsoring a “3 Dukes and a Queen” Captain’s Choice golf tournament with 10 percent of the team handicap applying on July 4 with a 7:30 a.m. shotgun start. Women will play the red tees and men will play the white tees. The $25-per-player entry fee includes green fees, cart fees, range balls and gift cards for the winners. Players may contact the pro shop for entry or additional informatio­n. The team makeup will be one woman and three men.

The three teams that tied for first place, with a score of 36, in the Moose Lodge weekly scramble at the Mesa Del Sol Golf course on June 6 were: Jimmy Billisbach, Chuck Holland, Donna Morris and Renee Carey; and John Coffey, Evelyn Pribble, Bob Peterson and Linda Wies; and Al Graham, Bob Evers, Okey Green and Bud Hammond.

The two teams that tied for first place, with a score of 35, in the Moose Lodge weekly scramble at the Mesa Del Sol Golf course on Tuesday morning were Jimmy Billisbach, Rick Parks, Joe Serfert and Sharon Vanoni; and Randy Light, Evelyn Pribble, Bob Ewers and Dolores Vrooman.

On Tuesday at the Las Barrancas Golf Course, the men’s silver gross score winners were Troy Reichert, Larry Garret and Eric Palacios. The net score winners were Fred Okerholm, Tom Blose and Frankie Allen.

David Doherty and Jack Parker were the first-place winners in the net division of the Mesa Del Sol MGA best-ball play June 9. Frank Manson and Hank Browning were second, and Bob Rehn and Mike Stclaire were the third-place net finishers. Roland Vorrath carried Steve Parrish to a first-place finish in the gross score division.

The 2017 Yuma County Open Golf Tournament will be played Sept. 2 at the Yuma Golf and Country Club, on Sept. 3 at the Desert Hills Golf Course and Sept. 4 at the Mesa Del Sol Golf Course. The tournament will feature individual gross, net stroke play, best-ball gross and net play. Players may contact their respective course for entry or additional informatio­n.

Jack Parker shot a net score of 61 for +11.22 quota points to win the Mesa Del Sol Quota play on Monday morning, with Stephen Parrish taking second place with +6.84 quota points. Raymond “Pinky” Throckmort­on was the third-place finisher with +4.4 quota points.

Connie Chapman posted a score of 69 to win first place in the Desert Hills Ladies “Throw out Holes” play on Tuesday morning, with Sheila Koch taking second place with a 73. The KP winners were Daphne Stone and Connie Chapman.

Hank Browning and Steve Parrish were tied for first place in the “Pinky’s Pick” play at the Mesa Del Sol Golf Course on Wednesday morning. Third place went to Pam Herring, with Bob Rehn and Marlyn Cotter tied for fourth place. The skin winners were Steve Parrish and Pam Herring. Steve Parrish used a 9-iron to ace the 140yard eighth hole. Steve is now 66 years old and has played golf for the past 40 years or so. This was his second hole-in-one.

On Wednesday at the Foothills Golf Course, the men’s gross score winners were Rollie Harris, Conrad Eisenach and Ken Kingston. The net score winners were Rollie Harris, Conrad Eisenach and Paul McLaughlin.

In the Mesa Del Sol Men’s Twilight League play Wednesday afternoon, the four teams that tied for first place with a net score of 28 were: Tom Norkiewicz and Robert Clayton, Mike Daily and John Hodges, Patrick Farrell and Sam Humer, and Lance Pangerl and Greg Stamm. Patrick Farrell and Mike Daily moved into a tie in the spring season point race. Next week’s event is a two-man net best-ball format and play begins at 5 p.m.

On Thursday at the Las Barrancas Golf Course, the men’s copper grossscore winners were Troy Reichert, Rollie Harris and Larry Garret. The netscore winners were Rollie Harris, Troy Reichert and Larry Garret.

Henry Browning and Garry Sletten teamed to win the gross division of the Mesa Del Sol MGA aggregate stroke play Friday morning. Frank Manson and David Doherty were the net-division winners, with Marilyn Cotter and Jack Parker taking second place in the net division. The skin winners were Raymond Butler, Jack Parker, Stephen Parrish, Henry Browning, Al Johnson, Bob Rehn, Sam Samples and Carol Roland.

The PGA Junior Golf League results at the Las Barrancas Golf Course were: Las Barrancas Juniors, 12 flags; Desert Hills Juniors, zero flags.

On Thursday, the Women’s Twilight League at Mesa Del Sol Golf Course played a two-person, combined-net shamble format on the front 9. Pam Upayokin and Shannon Mason took first place with a combined net score of 66. Mary Kruse and Pilar Dominguez took second place with a combined net score of 73.
