Hank’s Market, Foothills Hardware close for the summer
Finally, I have some news on several projects in the Foothills. But before I get to those, the hot topic this past week has got to be the summer closing of Hank’s Market and Butcher Shop, 11720 S. Foothills Blvd., and the adjacent Foothills Hardware, 11748 S. Foothill Blvd.
This past week I must have gotten about a dozen calls, messages and emails about the closings. Some readers were afraid the stores had closed permanently. A couple of readers said employees showed up to work at Hank’s on Wednesday only to find out it had been closed and they were not notified.
I called Hank’s on Wednesday, but there was no answer. I drove to the stores and found a couple of signs on the doors. At Foothills Hardware, the sign reads: “Gone for the summer to restock our shelves … See you in the fall!”
At Hank’s, one sign says: “Everybody gone fishing. We are closed for the summer.” The other sign says: “Sorry we’re closed. Reopening September. Please visit the Foothills Mini Mart @ 12870 S. Foothills Blvd. For your convenience, we have stocked multiple grocery items. ***Delivery still available*** 928-276-0955. See you back in the fall!”
While I was there, several customers arrived and left after realizing the store was closed. Most people who contacted me expressed dismay. One reader said this is the first time since she arrived in the Foothills (1990s) that she remembers Hank’s
