• Twentieth Century Fox releases “War for the Planet of the Apes” in movie theaters nationwide in the series’ third installment. Critics call it a real crowd pleaser. In the movie, the apes take over everything and within a month they pass a health care bill, cut taxes and build a border wall.

• Senate Republicans struggled to create a health care bill that their lobbyists can agree on and overthrow Obamacare passed by Democrats and their lobbyists. Our two-party system resulted in a Congress that’s like a dog who’s half-pit bull and half-Collie. After it rips your leg off, it runs for help.

• Congress may return from their August vacations to vote on the Senate’s version of the GOP health care bill. They’ve been ripping Obamacare for seven years without writing a plan they can agree on. Congress is proof that the universe is made up of protons, neutrons, electrons and morons.

A tremendous thank you to the firefighters who are risking their lives to save folks, their homes and treasured memories in danger during this summer fire season. “What is a firefighter? He’s the guy next door .... He’s a guy like you and me with warts and worries and unfulfilled dreams. Yet he stands taller than most of us. He’s a fireman .... A fireman is at once the most fortunate and the least fortunate of men.

He’s a man who saves lives because he has seen too much death.

He’s a gentle man because he has seen the awesome power of violence out of control.

He’s responsive to a child’s laughter because his arms have held too many small bodies that will never laugh again ....

He doesn’t preach the brotherhood of man. He lives it.” ~Author Unknown Too often businesses right under our nose go for years without the recognition they so deserve. One I wish to recognize is an auto mechanic in Somerton.

My husband and I have been yearround residents in Yuma for many years. During those years we have had quite a few vehicles, both cars, trucks, etc. When repairs were needed we always went to see our friend Miguel, who owns Garcia’s Garage. He has kept all of our vehicles going for many years. He is always there to advise, repair and offer suggestions.

Unlike the high-price, high-powered auto repair shops around town, this man is as honest as the day is long. Is that an oxymoron — to say he is an “honest mechanic”? Similar to hearing that you know of an “honest

Recently our family had to place our parents in a care facility. It was the hardest thing we ever had to do. We took them to Life Care where they could be together. We met with Maria (admissions) who made that happen. They were there for a short time but the level of care goes above and beyond. The nurses Cory, Victor, Helen, Juan, Vanessa, Mae, Teresa and more. The CNAs Maria and all the others. Juan the laundry guy, Gloria in social services, Rhonda at the nurse’s station, Pete (transportation) and Darin, and the beautiful personnel in the dining room. Everyone treated our mom and dad with respect and dignity. I’m sorry I can’t name everyone, but you know how special you are!

Thank you so much. Life Care rocks!
