New businesses popping up everywhere
It seems like new businesses are popping up everywhere! This week I have the pleasure of reporting several openings. One of them is the Brewers Restaurant and Sports Bar, which had a soft opening on Thursday at Yuma International Airport.
Jeff and Courtney Gapp, who own and operate Brewers on Avenue B and 24th Street, opened their second location to provide meals and beverages for passengers as well as the public. Customers who eat at the restaurant will have their parking tickets validated — so parking will be free.
The upstairs mezzanine and former upstairs bar, which overlook the runways, are additional areas to relax and eat or have a drink. There is also a full bar downstairs.
For those on the run, Brewers offers grab-and-go prepackaged meals that customers can take on a flight — or back to the office. Patrons also have the option of placing their order online for curbside pickup. *** The owners of the nowclosed Hank’s Market and Butcher Shop, 11720 S. Foothills Blvd., and the adjacent Foothills Hardware, 11748 S. Foothill Blvd., announced new developments for the stores.
“We’re doing something a little different. We’re changing it up,” said Andy Capestro, who owns the businesses along with wife Paula Capestro and her sister, Sandy Braden.
Hank’s will no longer open at all. The family had been considering whether to reopen it in the fall, but the building has now been put up for sale.
However, the family has decided to combine the grocery and hardware stores in the adjacent Foothills Hardware store and sell dry goods such as cereal, paper products, canned goods and beverages. And as soon as they can get the liquor license moved to the new location, the store will also sell hard liquor.
