Statesmen are too self-absorbed

-

One has to wonder what type of government we would have if instead of attempting to nullify an election of servants of the people who serve at the voters’ pleasure, cooler heads would prevail and actually sit down and attempt to seek the best and most deserved outcome for their constituents in lieu of trying to destroy their opposition through any means possible.

These folks have better health care than the majority of us have, they have a better retirement system than the average Joe could ever contemplate, all at our expense. They continue to treat us like serfs they can manipulate to achieve their own selfish ends while enriching themselves in the process.

Several quotes come to mind regarding one of our Founding Fathers, George Washington. The first reminds me of the fake news circulating in our culture. “When one side only of a story is heard and often repeated, the human mind becomes impressed with it insensibly.”

The other quotes simply expose the corrupt nature of those who lack the ability to foment something positive in order to continue their destructive ways. “Associate yourself with men of good quality if you esteem your own reputation; for ‘tis better to be alone than in bad company.”

“Government is not reason; it is not eloquent; it is force. Like fire, it is a dangerous servant and a fearful master.” — George Washington.

In today’s political climate, there is no representation of the term “Statesman.” There is only the resounding echo of self-absorption.
