District One to accept grants at meeting

The governing board of Yuma Elementary School District Number One will meet at 5:30 Monday evening.

The monthly board assembly takes place at the District One offices, 450 W. 6th St., to conduct the school district’s business. Meetings are open to the public, however, the board reserves the right to move to executive session to discuss personnel matters or to consult with its attorney.

Assistant Superinten­dent for Curriculum and Instructio­n Duane Sheppard will give the superinten­dent’s report, as the district’s chief, Jamie Sheldahl, will be absent. Sheppard will also recognize donations to the district, and present a policy for its first reading.

CFO Denis Ponder will present updates on the district’s financial trends and third-day enrollment. Grant writer Terry Lowe will speak about the “America’s Farmers Grow Rural Education” awarded by Monsanto.

The board will consider approving an “umbrella” intergover­nmental agreement (IGA) with Yuma Union High School District, Arizona Western College, Northern Arizona University-Yuma and the district. The board may also approve changing the date of the October board meeting, and the 2017-2018 AVID Tutors IGA.

Under the consent agenda, the board may approve: minutes, payroll vouchers in the amount of $8,359,488.09 (June 9- Aug. 4) and expense vouchers in the amount of $8,619,879.18 (May 31-Aug. 3); ratify outof-state travel for staff; and approve a salary adjustment for highly performing personnel.

The board may also ratify personnel actions including hirings, resignatio­ns, early contract releases, job abandonmen­t, retirement requests, leave of absences, terminatio­ns and updated job descriptio­ns.

• Two sole-sources providers — Assessment Technology Incorporat­ed and Zearn, Inc.
