Fire House Facts
From July 30 through Aug. 5, the Yuma Fire Department responded to 247 emergency calls, including:
• 6 general fire response
Including: A gas leak reported in an apartment, and various alarms.
• 18 motor vehicle crashes
Including: 1 involving a motorcycle, 1 involving a building, 1 involving 3 vehicles, 1 involving a wall, and 1 involving a pedestrian (foot got run over).
• 203 other medical emergencies (serious to minor)
Including: 15 difficulty breathing, 16 chest pains, 27 falls, 8 unconscious people, 7 seizure cases, 7 possible stroke cases, 1 person under the influence of drugs, 1 drug overdose, 9 people with psychiatric problems, 2 heat illness/dehydration, 4 medical alarms, 1 allergic reaction, 4 choking, 18 altered or decreased level of consciousness, 5 fevers, 2 broken bones, 6 diabetic emergencies, 16 man down calls, 1 uncontrolled bleeding, 2 bad headaches, 3 assaults, 4 back pain, 11 abdominal pain, 4 deceased persons, 2 lacerations, and other illnesses and injuries.
• 20 special duty, public assistance, and residential assignments
Including: 1 snake removal, 1 damaged power pole, 1 illegal debris burning, 1 vehicle smoking, 2 power lines arcing, 1 gas leaking from a water heater, 1 dumpster fire, 1 power pole hit by a train, and various alarms.
