The next Desert Hills Men’s Golf Associatio­n Tournament will be a twoperson, best-ball gross and net format, and will be played Saturday with an 8 a.m. shotgun start. Players may contact Bruce Clark at 928580-6436 or the Desert Hills pro shop for entry or additional informatio­n.

The Yuma County Open Golf Tournament returns this Labor Day weekend. Play begins at Yuma Golf & Country Club on Sept. 2 with the second round at Desert Hills on Sept. 3. The final round will be played at the Mesa del Sol Golf Course. Players will participat­e in two events at the same time, with a 36hole, two-person, best-ball competitio­n played during rounds 1 and 2, and a 54-hole individual stroke play competitio­n. Both events will award gross and net winners. The individual competitio­n will be flighted. Participan­ts may request their pairing for rounds 1 and 2. Round 3 pairings will be by position after the first two rounds are completed. Entry forms are available at the participat­ing golf courses.

Steve Parrish won the aflight gross division of the Mesa Del Sol MGA tournament Aug. 4, with Hank Browning winning the net division. Second place in the net division went to Bill Slade, and Sam Humer took third.

In the b-flight, Bullet Stratton was the gross-division winner, with Phyllis Mashburn winning first place in the net division. Second place in the net division went to Bob Rehn with Bob Blair taking third. The skin winners were Sam Humer, Phyllis Mashburn, Jack Parker, Hank Browning, Bob Blair and Sandra Blair.

On Tuesday at the Las Barrancas Golf Course, the men’s gross-score winners were Brian Healy, John Cullen and George Christophe­r. The net-score winners were George Christophe­r, Al Smith and Jack Joseph.

Chuck Holland teamed with Ron Harden and Shirley Patterson for a scrambling nine-hole score of 38 to win the Moose Lodge Golf League play on Tuesday morning at the Mesa Del Sol Golf Course. Three teams were tied for second place: Dale Hoch, Bob Ewers and Linda Wies; Al Graham, Evelyn Pribble and Carol Devolld; Neil Knutson, Charlie Kline and Diana Bird.

On Thursday at the Las Barrancas Golf Course, the men’s gross-score winners were Bill Taylor, Mark Hammons and Brian Healy. The net-score winners were Bill Taylor Lee Estes and Tom Forcier.

Steve Parrish teamed with Ed McCoy and Carol Roland to win the grossscore division of the Mesa Del Sol MGA best-ball play Friday morning. Bullet Stratton carried teammates Harry Mckemy and Jack Parker to a first-place finish in the net division. Tiffany Humer, Sue Morganthal­er and Pam Brown took second net. Ray Butler, Marilyn Cotter and Garry Sletten finished in third. The skin winners were Harry McKemy, Mike St. Claire, Steve Parrish, Sue Morganthal­er and Bill Slade.
