New Chevron fuel station, party shop coming to town
Customers who are loyal to the Chevron brand will now have options on either side of Interstate 8 in the Foothills area.
Shay Oil Company will be building a new Chevron fuel station and 24-hour convenience store next to the new Verizon store on Fortuna Road, south of Interstate 8. DeNise Construction is the general contractor.
“We hope to have the store open by spring 2018,” Supervisor Craig Shay told the Yuma Sun. “Our existing store on the north side of Interstate 8 will remain open, and we thank our customers for their business.”
Shay Oil Company is locally-owned and -operated and has been fueling southwestern Arizona since 1961. The company opened its first gas station in Mobridge, S.D., in the 1930s. It sold Phillips 66 gasoline and heating oil; made minor automobile repairs; and sold sodas, ice cream and some grocery items.
In 1961, the company moved to Yuma, where it now has 19 locations and growing. The gas stations have been carrying Chevron fuels and motor oils since the early 1990s. *** Yuma resident Maribel Nava has opened Prolegal Solutions at 2260 S. 4th Ave., Suite A, in Yuma.
