The Desert Hills Golf Course is offering a sixweek “Tee it up Yuma” golf program for golfers between the ages of 8 and 16. This program teaches golf and life skills, honesty, ethics, fair play, reliabilit­y and manners on the golf course. There is no cost for this program, which begins Oct. 7 at 1 p.m. Players and parents may contact Rich Walton at 928-373-5220 for entry or additional informatio­n.

Also, Desert Hills is providing the “Get Golf Ready” program, which is a group program designed to teach golf students everything they need to know to play golf in five lessons. The lessons include stretching and wellness, the proper grip, posture, stance and alignment, chipping pitching and putting, etiquette and care for the course, golf terminolog­y, tee it forward, golf rules on scoring and how to be comfortabl­e on the golf course. This fivelesson course starts Oct. 13, and players may contact Rich Walton at the same number referenced above.

Stephen Parrish, Marilyn Cotter, Jack Parker, Sam Samples and Garrett McKeeman were the weekly quota tournament winners at the Mesa Del Sol Golf Course on Monday. The skin winners were Garrett Garreeman, Sam Samples, Garry Sletten, Marilyn Cotter, Stephen Parrish and Mary Kruse.

Mike Watt teamed with Ron Hardin, Carol Devolld and Roy Cavanaugh for a scrambling score of evenpar 36 to tie the team of Dale Hoch, Bob Peterson, Vern Cysenski and Shirley Patterson for first place in the Moose Lodge weekly scramble play at the Mesa Del Sol Golf Course on Tuesday. Bob Lauer was the men’s KP winner on the fifth hole, and Barb Cavanaugh was the KP winner for the ladies on the fifth hole. On Tuesday at the Las Barrancas Golf Course, the men’s silver grossscore winners were Troy Reichert, Brian Healy and John Cullen. The net-score winners were Frankie Allen, John Cullen and Jack Joseph. The team gross-score winners were George Christophe­r, Conrad Eisenbach, Jack Joseph and Troy Reichert.

Jack Parker, Henry Browning, Bill Slade, Steve Parrish, Bob Rehn and Marilyn Cotter were the winners in Pinky’s Pick play at the Mesa Del Sol Golf Course on Wednesday. The skin winners were Mike St. Claire, Bill Slade and Stephen Parrish.

On Thursday at the Las Barrancas Golf Course, the men’s copper grossscore winners were Troy Reichert, Rollie Harris and Brian Healy. The net-score winners were Mark Park, Rollie Harris and Lee Estes. The team winners were Mark Park, Ed Fries, Troy Reichert and Jack Henson.

On Wednesday in the Mesa del Sol Men’s Twilight League, Mike Havens and Mike Daily won the net shamble with a 30. Tom Norkiewicz retained his lead in the summer season points lead. Next week’s format is a two-man net shamble, and play begins at 4:45 p.m.

The Kofa High School Golf Teams Booster Club Scramble is Saturday at the Mesa del Sol Golf Course. Play begins with a shotgun start at 8 a.m.
