The Desert Hills Golf Course is of­fer­ing a sixweek “Tee it up Yuma” golf pro­gram for golfers be­tween the ages of 8 and 16. This pro­gram teaches golf and life skills, hon­esty, ethics, fair play, re­li­a­bil­ity and man­ners on the golf course. There is no cost for this pro­gram, which be­gins Oct. 7 at 1 p.m. Play­ers and par­ents may con­tact Rich Wal­ton at 928-373-5220 for en­try or ad­di­tional in­for­ma­tion.

Also, Desert Hills is pro­vid­ing the “Get Golf Ready” pro­gram, which is a group pro­gram de­signed to teach golf stu­dents ev­ery­thing they need to know to play golf in five lessons. The lessons in­clude stretch­ing and well­ness, the proper grip, pos­ture, stance and align­ment, chip­ping pitch­ing and putting, eti­quette and care for the course, golf ter­mi­nol­ogy, tee it for­ward, golf rules on scor­ing and how to be com­fort­able on the golf course. This five­les­son course starts Oct. 13, and play­ers may con­tact Rich Wal­ton at the same num­ber ref­er­enced above.

Stephen Par­rish, Mar­i­lyn Cot­ter, Jack Parker, Sam Sam­ples and Gar­rett McKee­man were the weekly quota tour­na­ment win­ners at the Mesa Del Sol Golf Course on Mon­day. The skin win­ners were Gar­rett Gar­ree­man, Sam Sam­ples, Garry Slet­ten, Mar­i­lyn Cot­ter, Stephen Par­rish and Mary Kruse.

Mike Watt teamed with Ron Hardin, Carol Devolld and Roy Ca­vanaugh for a scram­bling score of even­par 36 to tie the team of Dale Hoch, Bob Peter­son, Vern Cy­sen­ski and Shirley Pat­ter­son for first place in the Moose Lodge weekly scram­ble play at the Mesa Del Sol Golf Course on Tues­day. Bob Lauer was the men’s KP win­ner on the fifth hole, and Barb Ca­vanaugh was the KP win­ner for the ladies on the fifth hole. On Tues­day at the Las Bar­ran­cas Golf Course, the men’s sil­ver grosss­core win­ners were Troy Re­ichert, Brian Healy and John Cullen. The net-score win­ners were Frankie Allen, John Cullen and Jack Joseph. The team gross-score win­ners were Ge­orge Christo­pher, Con­rad Eisen­bach, Jack Joseph and Troy Re­ichert.

Jack Parker, Henry Brown­ing, Bill Slade, Steve Par­rish, Bob Rehn and Mar­i­lyn Cot­ter were the win­ners in Pinky’s Pick play at the Mesa Del Sol Golf Course on Wed­nes­day. The skin win­ners were Mike St. Claire, Bill Slade and Stephen Par­rish.

On Thursday at the Las Bar­ran­cas Golf Course, the men’s copper grosss­core win­ners were Troy Re­ichert, Rol­lie Har­ris and Brian Healy. The net-score win­ners were Mark Park, Rol­lie Har­ris and Lee Estes. The team win­ners were Mark Park, Ed Fries, Troy Re­ichert and Jack Hen­son.

On Wed­nes­day in the Mesa del Sol Men’s Twi­light League, Mike Havens and Mike Daily won the net sham­ble with a 30. Tom Norkiewicz re­tained his lead in the sum­mer sea­son points lead. Next week’s for­mat is a two-man net sham­ble, and play be­gins at 4:45 p.m.

The Kofa High School Golf Teams Booster Club Scram­ble is Satur­day at the Mesa del Sol Golf Course. Play be­gins with a shot­gun start at 8 a.m.
