JUCO WOMEN’S SOCCER AWC 3, Cochise 2 (OT)

The Arizona Western women had just as exciting of a win as the men did Tuesday at home, as the Lady Matadors rallied late to beat Cochise, 3-2, in overtime.

AWC (5-1-3 overall, 5-1-3 ACCAC) forced overtime thanks to a goal by freshman forward Karen Melendrez with just 48 seconds remaining in regulation. The goal, which came off an assist from Christiana Boateng, was Melendrez’s 10th of the season.

Boateng then scored her 16th goal of the season seven minutes into overtime to give the Matadors the win.

Boateng also scored AWC’s first goal of the contest, off a Melendrez assist early in the second half to tie the score at 1-1.
