Fire House Facts
For the week of Sept. 17-23, the Yuma Fire Department responded to 251 emergency calls for service, including:
• 11 general fire response
Including: 2 fires extinguished by fire sprinkler systems (a commercial building and hotel), and various alarms.
• 2 mutual aid
Including: Assistance with an emergency medical call in Winterhaven and called to assist Rural/ Metro with a building fire in the county.
• 13 motor vehicle crashes
Including: 1 involving a rollover, 1 involving a motorcycle, 1 involving a wall, 1 involving a pole, 1 involving a bicycle, and 1 reported as a head-on crash.
• 208 other medical emergencies (serious to minor)
Including: 23 difficulty breathing, 16 chest pain, 33 falls, 10 unconscious people, 7 seizure cases, 4 possible stroke cases, 9 intoxicated persons, 4 for people under the influence of drugs, 1 drug overdose, 13 people with psychiatric problems, 2 heat illness/dehydration, 2 medical alarms, 1 child locked in a vehicle, 2 allergic reactions, 10 altered or decreased level of consciousness, 2 fevers, 1 broken bones, 2 diabetic emergencies, 1 dog bite, 7 man down calls, 2 uncontrolled bleeding, 3 bad headaches, 1 gunshot wound, 3 assaults, 8 abdominal pain, 2 deceased persons, 3 lacerations, 1 sports related (head butting in a soccer game), 1 broken arm from falling from monkey bars, 1 5-yearold with a bug in their ear, and other illnesses and injuries.

Including: 1 snake removal, 1 cooking fire, 1 dumpster fire, 1 power lines down, 2 people stuck in elevators, 1 tree on fire, 1 mobile home fire, 1 small brush fire, 2 vehicle fires, and various alarms.
