Crane will hold revised budget hearing today

The Crane School District governing board will hold a public hearing today as it plans to adopt a revised budget for the school year.

The meeting is set for 5 p.m. at the Crane District Services Center boardroom, 930 S. Avenue C.

The hearing will concern two aspects of the district’s overall spending plan, with revisions to the maintenance and operations portion, and district additional assistance. Members of the public may ask questions and discuss the revised expenditure budget for the 1718 fiscal year. This revision is being completed to revise the final allocations for the intended 1.06 percent teacher salary increase, which must be completed by Nov. 1, according to information provided in the district’s agenda.

The board will hear several updates, including from Mike Hoffman, assistant superintendent, on the 2017 AzMerit results. Abby Pemberton, director of curriculum, and Michael Clark, director of school nutrition, will present on the district’s Student Wellness Program.

The board is also set to approve a memorandum of understanding with the City of Yuma for variable speed flashing beacons at Crane Middle School.

The board may also hear a report on unspent bond funds, and approve the annual financial report for the district. As part of its consent agenda, the board may also approve expenditures for two facilities department vehicles; tuition to The Menta Group for a special education student; and network services connectivity for all schools.
