Yuma police investigating attempted homicide
At approximately 2:30 a.m. on Monday, Yuma police responded to the 2200 block of South Walnut Avenue in reference to a call reporting shots being fired.
When officers arrived on scene, they found that a 30-year-old male had been shot.
Sgt. Lori Franklin, a spokesperson for the Yuma Police Department, said no further information was available because the shooting is being investigated as an attempted homicide.
The victim was transported to the Yuma Regional Medical Center with nonlife threatening injuries. The shooter was described as a younger male, wearing a gray hoodie and dark jeans.
In a separate shooting that occurred Friday afternoon, Franklin said the names of the two suspects arrested in the case won’t be released because they are juveniles.
In that incident, Yuma police responded to reports of shots fired at about 4:30 p.m. in the area of 11th Street and 10th Avenue.
The initial investigation revealed that shots were fired at a gray passenger car of an unknown make and model.
No injuries were reported. The investigation is ongoing.
