The governing board of the Yuma Union High School District will consider approving revised pacts with its consortium members at its meeting Wednesday.

The board will convene at 5:15 p.m. in the library at Yuma High School, 400 S. 6th Ave.

Board members will consider four intergovernmental agreements, which outline how the consortium of districts will cooperate to solve problems of mutual concern. Yuma Union partners with several other school districts in Yuma County to share costs, labor and resources.

The two pacts up for Wednesday’s consideration are for the Yuma Educational Materials Management Consortium and the Yuma Educational Technology Consortium. The pacts are being considered for three-year renewals.

Board members will also consider an agreement with the City of Yuma for school resource officers and a pact with Yuma School District One, Arizona Western College and NAU-Yuma for educational access television and public relations. According to Eric Patten, YUHSD communications director, the district is looking for AWC to help provide studio time, graphic design and other items.

The board will also review and accept community survey results from its superintendent search and consider other opportunities to hear from the public.

Nic Clement, the search consultant from the Arizona School Boards Association, in an email to the Yuma Sun on Nov. 1, noted that nearly 330 surveys had been returned.

Student representatives from Cibola and Gila Ridge high schools will update the board with reports from their campuses. Cibola Principal Tim Brienza will be the featured principal.

The board will also get an update on the district’s budget, hear reports on transportation and nutrition and take under advisement a first reading of policies, regulations, and exhibits.

Information about agenda items may be reviewed in the District Administrative Offices, which are currently on the campus of Yuma High School. The board may convene into an executive session on any matter listed on the agenda for discussion or advice from its legal counsel. Executive sessions are not open to the public, but all board decisions will be made in open public meeting.

If any person needs any type of accommodation, please contact the superintendent’s office at (928) 5024600 prior to the time scheduled for the meeting.

The board’s next meetings are slated for 3 p.m. Nov. 30 and 5:15 p.m. Dec. 6 in the Yuma High School Library. Both meetings are to be held in the library at Yuma High.
