Fire House Facts
During the week of Oct. 29-Nov. 4, the Yuma Fire Department responded to 232 emergency calls for service, including:
5 general fire response
Including: Smoke coming from a school’s a/c unit, and various alarms.
1 mutual aid
Including: Called to assist Rural Metro with an emergency medical call in the Foothills.
19 motor vehicle crashes
Including: 1 involving a pedestrian, 1 involving motorcycles (2), 1 involving a wall, 1 rollover, and 1 involving a vehicle in a dry canal.
189 other medical emergencies (serious to minor)
Including: 16 for difficulty breathing, 8 for chest pain, 25 for falls, 10 for unconscious people, 7 seizure cases, 3 possible stroke cases, 5 for intoxicated persons, 3 for people under the influence of drugs, 1 drug overdose, 12 for people with psychiatric problems, 3 for medical alarms, 1 for children locked in a vehicle, 3 for allergic reactions, 14 for altered or decreased level of consciousness, 3 for fevers, 3 for diabetic emergencies, 16 for man down calls, 4 for uncontrolled bleeding, 1 for bad headaches, 1 for a gunshot wound, 1 for poisoning (someone reportedly ate some oleander branches), 3 for assaults, 1 for back pain, 3 for abdominal pain, 1 pregnancy related, 1 for a deceased person, 1 for lacerations, and other illnesses and injuries.
18 special duty, public assistance, and residential assignments
Including: 1 for assisting YPD with aerial photos of serious crash scene, 1 for a debris fire in an alley, 1 for blown power transformers, 1 for a dumpster fire at an apartment complex, 1 for small brush fire in a vacant lot, 1 for illegal burning of trash, and various alarms.
