Good news: Kia dealership is back, Jersey Mike’s is now open

Readers will be happy to know that two places they’ve been asking about — the Kia dealership and Jersey Mike’s Subs — are now in business.

A few readers were worried about where they would take their Kias for service and warranty work after Zamora Kia, 2841 S. Pacific Ave., stopped being a Kia dealership. At that time, owner Willy Zamora said the dealership was transition­ing to a new owner, but he could not reveal the name of the new owner yet.

Well, the deal is done, and Kia of Yuma officially opened on Wednesday. Brothers Abraham Razick and Adli Kakish, owners of Hyundai of Yuma, 1125 E. 32nd St., have acquired the dealership.

Razick said their main concern was preserving jobs and retaining the 23 Kia employees.

“When we found out that they would be closing, we wanted to save the jobs here. We called Kia and we were awarded the point,” he said. “Every single employee has kept their jobs.”

And the new owners will be hiring an additional 10 to 15 employees. The dealership is currently hiring in the sales and service department­s.

Razick said the Kia store will now have a “huge amount of inventory” with a stock of more than 300 vehicles.

The brothers ended up in Yuma when Hyundai called them in Chicago and asked if they were interested in buying a dealership. They originally said no but
