Switzerland takes different approach on guns

-

Because gun control advocates just love to compare the United States to all of the other industrial nations of the world, your editorial missed one country. How about Switzerland? They have been around a long, long time and Switzerland’s government issues and trains every adult male who is capable of serving in their military. And the weapons issued are stored in each individual’s home with ammunition. Switzerland has the lowest gun related crime rate of any civilized country in the world. Funny that no one in the media acknowledges this fact.

The problem is our society. No one wants to take responsibility for what SOMEONE does. The blame always goes on to whatever is used to comment the horrendous act. I never hear politicians clamoring for more control on alcohol even though drunk driving kills thousands every year. I don’t hear politicians and the like clamoring for cars to be engineered that will not exceed 75 miles per hour even though thousands are killed in speeding related accidents. How about heroin and meth? They both are illegal but idiots still overdose on this garbage. Here is the big question: Isn’t murder illegal or have I missed something somewhere?

Guns don’t sneak out of a home on their own and cause havoc. It’s the crazed human being behind the trigger who is the culprit. Take a look at the last two shootings: Neither one of the men responsible was legally allowed to own firearms but because of human error (government reporting) they were able to sneak through the cracks. And the man that took out the Texas shooter was a NRA instructor using the same style rifle that the killer used! Now that’s karma! Folks, we need ‘people control’ not gun control.

You mentioned the buyback program in Australia and how well its working. That’s pure fantasy. The Australian people are currently going through a rise in crime because the criminal element know that the law abiding aren’t armed. And let’s be serious: A buyback program will not work here in the United States nor will a voluntary turn-in. Australia did not have a 2nd Amendment — we do and millions of us will fight to the death to protect the 2nd as we have for the other amendments.
