Academic Decathlon Scrimmage urgently seeking judges
The annual Yuma Union High School District Academic Decathlon Scrimmage is seeking judges for Friday, Dec. 8.
The scrimmage helps students prepare for Arizona’s regional competitions which take place in February. This week’s scrimmage is from 4:30 to 8:30 p.m. Friday at Yuma High School.
“It’s an amazing event and really showcases our students’ academic talents,” Yuma High School assistant principal Gaudelia Castro said.
The mission of the Arizona Academic Decathlon Association is to promote, motivate and acknowledge excellence in academic efforts and educational achievement through a program of academic competitions for high school students of all scholastic achievement levels. Students compete in 10 areas: art, economics, essay, interview, literature, mathematics, music, science, social science, & speech.
“We need judges for Friday, mostly, but we also need help Saturday morning to help proctor written tests, and assist with the Super Quiz in the afternoon,” Castro said.
