Support of community at rib cook-off appreciated

- JERRY LOCOCO AND RICK MADRID RCO Co-Chairs

On behalf of the students and families of Yuma Catholic High School, we would like to say thank you to the community for participating in the 15th annual Rachel Determan Memorial Rib Cook-off. It was an amazing year with 28 cook off teams, 44 sponsors, 42 vintage cars, over 30 in-kind and raffle donors and 200 volunteers. We appreciate the great numbers that turned out and helped us create that wonderful family atmosphere! The funds raised are used to keep tuition affordable for more families. Over 70 percent of the current students receive income qualified tuition support.

Thank you to the vendors that helped us produce such a special day: band-Upper Room, Holtville Athletic Club, Ashley’s Party Supply, B&E Service, Shade for Rent, Reddy Rents, the Camel Farm, Zinn Printing, Caliber and Shamrock Foods. We appreciate the generous groups that lended their barbecue grills as well: Barkley Ag., Amigo Farms, TLC Custom Farming, COY Parks and Recreation and the Nakasawa family.

We are grateful to the multitude of supporters who put the event together through donations of funds, time, expertise, service and gifts. We encourage all to visit the Yuma Catholic website (ww.yumacatho-lic.org/giving/ribcook-off) or the Facebook page (www.facebook.com/ YCShamrocks) to see a complete list and photos from the event. It truly was a team effort. At the forefront were Alexander Automotive Group, The Determan family, and Yuma Vision Center exemplifying leadership and commitment to our students. Thank you!
