Nora was born to Carmen Juarez Cuellar and David Carrillo Cuellar of San Antonio, Texas. She attended St. Henry’s Catholic School and graduated in 1941.

A visiting relative ask Nora to return to Chicago with her to see the big city. She acquired a bank teller position but was homesick for her parents and 5 older brothers all of whom served in the different branches of the military.

Back in San Antonio she completed a civil service exam and began working in a secretaria­l pool till advancing to the office of one of the base commanders. Nora left her government job to meet people so she took a position at a local department store where she fulfilled her need to meet and help customers.

Sometime later she took a position at Trinity University as a secretary to the Director of the department of history until his retirement. Nora who was never too long between jobs, starting as a patient she was hired by Ruth Troxller a licensed Reflexolog­ist.

Once Mrs. Troxeller retired and closed her office, Nora began enjoying the fruits of her interestin­g life by traveling with her loving husband, Martin T. Herrera III after his retirement from civil services.

With a knack for making friends as they went thru life Nora became involved with various organizati­ons; The American Legion Women’s Auxiliary, VFW & ABWA where she earned Women of the Year Award.

In 2005 Nora and Martin moved to Yuma to be close to their only son Martin and daughter-in-law Connie. Settling in to the Yuma lifestyle they became members of the Moose Lodge 1503 while also becoming active members of St. John Neumann’s Catholic Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years Martin T Herrera III and a grandson Anthony T. Herrera.

Services will be held at 9 am Friday December 22, 2017 at St John Neumann’s Catholic Church, burial to follow services at Sunset Vista Cemetery.
