Man sought after shots fired
Suspect flees after domestic dispute, Yuma police say
Yuma police are seeking a man who allegedly fired a weapon during a domestic disturbance, then fled Sunday night.
At approximately 11 p.m. Sunday, police responded to a home in the 2000 block of East 25th Street for a disturbance involving the discharge of a firearm.
According to Lt. Brian Scanlan, Yuma police are actively searching for 32-year-old Joaquin Beltran Flores, who fled the scene and should be considered armed and dangerous.
Scanlan said an investigation into the incident revealed that Beltran, who is known to frequent the cities of Yuma and Somerton, was involved in a domestic violence incident at the residence over a matter of child custody.
No one was injured as the result of the shots being fired, Scanlan said, but at least one vehicle sustained damage. No information was available about the occupants of the home because they are the victims in the incident.
Flores is described as approximately 5 feet 10 inches tall, weighing 185 pounds with brown hair and brown eyes.
He is also being sought for other incidents, and has been known to drive a silver Chevrolet Monte Carlo SS in the past. This vehicle has been located and impounded by police, so his current vehicle information (if any) is unknown. Scanlan advises Flores to turn himself in at YPD or the Yuma County Sheriff’s Office.
YPD encourages anyone with information about this case or knowledge of where Flores is to call police at (928)783-4421 or 78-CRIME (928) 782-7463 to remain anonymous.
