Janie Martinez, 68, died Dec. 24, 2017, at her Yuma home.

Born Aug. 3, 1949, in Kenedy, Texas, she was a migrant liaison.

A visitation and rosary were held Thursday at Yuma Mortuary Chapel. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. today at Immaculate Conception Church. Burial will be 9 a.m. Saturday at Desert Lawn.

Maria D. Garcia

Maria D. Garcia, 83, died Dec. 23, 2017, at her Yuma home. Born April 19, 1934, in Mexico, she was a homemaker. A viewing will be 6 to 9 p.m. today at Yuma Mortuary Chapel, with rosary at 7 p.m. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Immaculate Conception Church. Burial will follow Mass at Pioneer Cemetery.

Buell Hall ‘Hal’ Burgess II

Buell Hall “Hal” Burgess II, 55, a former resident of Yuma, died Dec. 22, 2017, at his home in Aberdeen, Wash.

Born Sept. 17, 1962, in Yuma, he was a scale operator for Deschutes Aggregate and Recycling in Olympia, Wash., and veteran of the U.S. Army.

A memorial service will be 2 p.m. Jan. 6 at the Yuma County Mounted Posse Grounds, 14250 S. Avenue A Extension.

Twibell’s Fern Hill Funeral Home in Aberdeen is handling cremation arrangements.

Kathy Lynn Hightower

Kathy Lynn Hightower, 60, of Yuma, died Dec. 22, 2017, at Yuma Regional Medical Center.

Born July 9, 1957, in San Diego, she was a retail salesperson. No services are planned at this time. All Saints Cremation & Memorial Chapel is handling arrangements, including cremation.
