Food market opens; art gallery, juice bar to follow
Ialways like to start with the good news. Three new businesses are celebrating their openings this month. After much anticipation, International Market — Mediterranean Food and Deli, 700 E. 32nd St., has opened its doors. After many months with a “coming soon” sign on the window, the grocery store and eatery features imported and specialty international foods with a focus on Mediterranean goods. In April my predecessor reached out to owner Emadelein Saad, who told him that he wanted to bring something “different” from anything currently available in Yuma.
Saad also noted the location near Marine Corps Air Station Yuma made for a great opportunity to serve the military community.
The store is on Facebook as Yuma Queen Halal Grocer. *** Martha Palomino, an artist and art educator from Los Angeles, is proud to bring Palomino Art and Art Works to Yuma. The gallery is located at 1420 Avenue B, and will feature art exhibits from both the U.S. and Mexico, art vendors, live entertainment and snacks on Saturday, Jan. 27, from 1-5 p.m.
“The southwest is filled with exceptional artists and I am excited to give their creative works a home for everyone to appreciate,” Palomino said.
Palomino, who holds an art degree from California State Fullerton, has nearly 30 years of experience in art and fashion design.
“Palomino Art and Art Works will not only showcase a variety of art from around the region but will also provide daily art classes for beginners, intermediate and advanced students,” Palomino added. *** A reader said she stopped by Blended: Juice Bar, 3939 S. Avenue 3E, hoping to try it out but still found it closed. Owner Tara Sullivan will be opening her new business on Jan. 22. She promises to
DEASON GARNER LAW FIRM
serve the “tastiest juices and smoothies in Yuma!” *** Deason Garner Law Firm has moved to a new location. Formerly located at 242 W. 28th St., the firm is now at 6024 E. 32nd St.
The estate planning, elder law, wills, trust administration and asset protection law firm was established when Yuma native, Larry Deason, began practicing law in Yuma shortly after graduating from law school in 1968, according to the firm’s website.
In 1991, after practicing law for about 20 years, Deason began practicing exclusively in the area of estate planning law. Deason retired from the practice of law in 2015.
But, before then, in 2011, Shawn Garner joined the firm, having previously established a very successful litigation practice. In 2013, Garner became a partner of the law firm and the Deason Law Firm became the Deason Garner Law Firm. In 2014, Adam Hansen began his role in the firm as a licensed attorney.
