Girls basketball: Hernandez makes game-winning 3 for Rams

The Antelope girls basketball team picked up its first win of the season, and did so in exciting fashion.

Hillary Hernandez hit a game-winning 3-pointer with eight seconds left as the Rams beat Trivium Prep, 3-5.

Antelope, now 1-2 in region games, improved to 1-6 overall with the win.

Arlyssa Underwood (20 points, 6 assists, 6 steals), Rylee Lakey (12 points, 15 rebounds) and Cailynn Stuebs (11 points, 5 rebounds) led the way for the Raiders (10-1 AIA, 2-0 region), who still haven’t lost an AIA game since their season opener.

Kofa dropped to 4-7 and 1-1 with the loss.

Fountain Hills 57, Yuma Catholic 41

Sydney Neumann (17 points, 10 rebounds) had a double-double for the Shamrocks (8-3 AIA, 2-3 region), while Rori Martinez added 10 points.

PREP BOYS BASKETBALL Fountain Hills 44, Yuma

J.R. Henderson (12 points) and Jason Pisano (8 rebounds) were the top performers for the Shamrocks (3-8 AIA, 1-4 region), who trailed by just a point with 30 seconds left before Fountain Hills was able to put the game away.

Gila Ridge 68, Youngker 60

Joel Adetiba (8 points, 7 rebounds) was the top performer for the Hawks (3-10 AIA, 1-3 region), who dropped their third straight.

PREP BOYS SOCCER Yuma High 5, Youngker 2

The Criminals (3-7 AIA, 1-1 region) picked up their first victory since their second game of the season. Mario Ramos had two goals, while Armando De Luna, Christian Rascon and Omar Castillo had one each.

PREP GIRLS SOCCER Kofa 5, San Luis 0

Michelle Fuentes scored two goals for the Kings (7-3 AIA, 3-0 region), while Alondra Lares, Maesy Ramirez and Hanna Urtado each scored one. Fuentes also had two assists, while Ramirez and Katelyn Cardwell had one each.

Yuma Catholic 9, Kingman 0

Ariana Leamons had a hat trick and one assist, Isela Estrada had two goals and two assists, Savannah Rush had two goals and Natalie Camarena had one goal and two assists. Natalia Zazueta had the other goal for the Shamrocks (7-01 AIA, 3-0 region).

PREP WRESTLING Shamrocks go 3-0 at home, Rams go 2-1

Yuma Catholic hosted and defeated Parker (score of 60-15), Wickenburg (6615) and Joy Christian (75-0) for an easy 3-0 record on the day.

The Shamrocks’ wrestlers who went undefeated were 113-pounder Miguel Loya, 120 Miguel Escalera, 126 Aden Cain, 132 Austin Blomquist, 138 Victor Diaz, 145 Andrew Gregory, 170 Richard Molina, 182 Sam Cheung and 195 Brandon Weatherby.

Antelope was also at the dual and went 2-1 with wins over Parker (39-24) and Joy Christian (48-12), and a loss to Wickenburg (40-24). Brandon Jaime went 3-0 with two pins, while Issac Filario also went 3-0.
