Entrepreneurial Yumans open new gym, law firm

-

It’s always great to see people strike out on their own and start their own businesses. It takes a lot of faith, and I hope the community will support them and they succeed.

This week I’d like to introduce you to two Yumans with this entrepreneurial spirit. Certified personal trainer Caeden Ethington, born and raised in Yuma, just opened up his very own “local hometown gym,” Caedo Fit, at 2241 S. Avenue A, off 24th Street.

He offers personal training and boot camps for any age group, and he wants to make it fun even for those who don’t think fitness can be fun.

Caeden has literally worked his way up. He started out doing boot camps at local parks and then started training in a garage. Now he has the funds to open his own gym, and he’s doing just that.

His journey into fitness started with baseball. He spent one year with a professional minor league team in Missouri. When he came back to Yuma, he wanted to stay active and competitive, so he got into weightlifting and started participating in bodybuilding shows.

To find out more, call Caeden at 928-750-3816. *** Another Yuman flexing her entrepreneurial muscles as of Jan. 1 is attorney Nohemy Echavarria, who opened Echavarria Law at 205 W. 2nd St., across from the Yuma County Courthouse. Nohemy specializes in criminal defense, family law and landlord-tenant.

A Yuma native, she has worked in this city for more than 18 years, recently leaving the Legal Defender’s office to open her private practice.

Nohemy is a graduate of Phoenix School of Law and is bilingual. Join her in celebrating her new business from 5-7 p.m. Thursday.

Echavarria Law can be reached by telephone at 928-782-4529. *** A lot has been happening at the recently renovated building located at 1221 W. 16th St., which is located across from Inca Lanes. The building has been divided into several suites, which now houses a gym, party shop and cellular phone service provider.

Sunshine Nails and Spa just opened their doors a couple of week ago and now Jade Garden Restaurant has submitted a permit has been submitted new plans for review by the city for tenant improvements The restaurant will be located in Suite A. *** Someone said they heard that the Holiday Inn on top of the hill at 1901 E. 18th St. is either planning a major expansion or a new building. I talked to a hotel representative and he noted hotels are always undergoing some kind of renovations as they try to keep rooms updated, but there are no immediate plans for a big expansion of this hotel.

I think this reader is confusing it with the announcement that PR Normandale Hotels, which also owns the Holiday Inn, will be constructing Yuma’s first Sheraton Four Points Hotel on Avenue 3E, next to two of
