Find out how APS can help your organization
Members of Yuma’s business community know that when Yuma is thriving, we all share in that success. That’s why it makes good business sense to support local efforts that enhance strong neighborhoods, education and the arts. Plus, it’s the right thing to do.
This is something we strongly believe in at APS. We knew that when the Gowan Science Academy received a STEM minigrant for its “Coding Across the Grades” project, students as young as first grade would learn a valuable skill — in addition to their foundational education — that could very well turn into a successful career in the future.
Or when we partnered with the Phoenix Suns and Arizona Diamondbacks for community courts and fields, all Yuma young people would have access to top-notch recreational facilities.
If you are involved with an organization that makes Yuma a better place to live, we might have a grant for you. APS gives financially to the communities it serves through three venues: corporate giving, the APS Foundation and our STEM mini-grants partnership with the Phoenix Suns.
Through our corporate giving efforts, we fund organizations that contribute to the vitality of Arizona with an emphasis on:
• Civic and Economic Development including chambers, cities/towns, public safety services, diversity programs, community events and sponsorships.
• Health and Human Services such as basic needs, non-STEM education, and specific health-related causes.
• Military and Veterans Affairs focus on programs that help veterans get back to work.
• Promoting Arts and Culture such as museums, historic sites, environmental conservation, performing arts and increasing access to arts programs.
• Programs where employees serve as board members and volunteer. Through our matching gifts program, we match employee donations to qualified non-profit organizations.
Corporate Giving accepts grant applications Jan. 1 through Nov. 30, every year, and reviews applications every two weeks.
The APS Foundation focuses on STEM education and providing support to STEM teachers to nurture Arizona’s students. STEM education is critical to create a more robust economy and develop a stronger, more educated workforce. These students are a pipeline for APS’s future workforce.
APS Foundation applications are due March 1 and Sept. 1, each year.
Through our partnership with the Phoenix Suns, mini-grants of up to $2,500 are awarded to K-12 teachers at public and charter schools within our service territory for innovative hands-on STEM projects in their classrooms that aim to enhance student performance in that subject matter.
Applications for APS/ Phoenix Suns STEM MiniGrants are open annually from August to October.
