No charges filed against Dome Valley couple
Pair had been arrested on suspicion of sexually abusing a child
No charges were filed Thursday in Wellton Justice Court against the 56-year-old Dome Valley man who was arrested for allegedly sexually abusing and molesting a child last week.
When Ernesto Marron Juarez appeared in court he was informed by Justice of the Peace Russ Jones that the Yuma County Attorney’s Office did not file a criminal complaint against him.
Juarez, who was out of custody on a $250,000 bond, was arrested on Feb. 7 on felony charges of public sexual indecency, sexual abuse and molestation of a child.
His wife, 53-year-old Hilda B. Juarez, who was arrested on one count of failure to report neglect of a minor, was also not charged. She had been out of custody on a $10,000 bond.
Prosecutors could still decide to file charges against the couple later and if that happens, they would be sent a summons to appear back in court.
According to Wellton court officials, the case is now closed.
Deputies from the Yuma County Sheriff’s Office responded to a home in the 18000 block of East County 7th Street at approximately 9:09 a.m. on Feb. 1 in reference to a sexual abuse and molestation that had possibly occurred at the residence.
When deputies arrived on scene they spoke with the victim, who told them she had been sexually abused by the suspect at his home.
Then on Wednesday morning, deputies from the Yuma County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Bureau brought the suspect and his wife in for questioning in reference to the allegations.
They were both arrested and booked into the Yuma County jail later that same day.
