- BY AMY CRAWFORD SUN STAFF WRITER

Information on two medical-related programs will be presented Monday evening to the board of Yuma’s joint-technical education district.

The Southwest Technical Education District of Yuma, commonly known as STEDY, will hold its monthly business meeting at 5:30 p.m. Monday at the Goodwill Industries Center, 3097 S. 8th Ave., in Yuma. Board members are slated to hear presentations on a nursing preparation program at Gila Ridge High School, and hear a presentation on the medical assistant course. The assistant course is set to be approved under the board’s action items.

Superintendent Kevin Imes and other administrators in the JTED will also present monthly reports to the board. Board members may also share reports of their own, which are considered informational only.

The board is expected to enter into an executive session to discuss the lease of a facility and any terms to be set forth. The board will make a decision whether to approve an facility agreement in open session. The board may also approve the district’s calendar for 20182019 before entering the executive session.

Under its consent agenda, the board is expected to approve previous minutes; approve and ratify expense, payroll and other vouchers. It may also approve the donation of six boxes of clothing items from Fast-Trac Designs with an estimated value of $2,029.

STEDY meetings are open to the public, with the exception of closed sessions. Each meeting begins with a “call to the public,” during which concerned members may address the board on issues within its jurisdiction. By law, board members may not discuss or take action on items that are not specifically identified on the agenda but may respond to criticism, direct staff to study the matter, or schedule the matter for a future agenda. Speakers are limited to 15 minutes on each subject and presentations are limited to three minutes.

The board’s next meeting will be March 12 in the same location. Those who need an accommodation to ensure effective communication and access to meetings should contact the Yuma County School Superintendent’s office (928-373-1006) as early as possible to make arrangements.
