- FROM STAFF REPORTS

Editor’s note:

This is one in a series of stories profiling 10 artists whose work will appear in the 39th annual Yuma Art Symposium, scheduled Feb. 22-24.

Dukno Yoon, an artist who works with metals, is an assistant professor at Kansas State University who previously taught at several universities in Korea.

He has a bachelor of fine arts degree from Kookmin University in Seoul, South Korea, and his masters of fine arts degree at Miami University in Ohio.

Yoon was trained as a metalsmith and has been actively adopting digital fabrication technologies into his practice. His work explores mechanism as an artistic form to cre- ate interactive kinetic artworks in wearable form and small sculpture.

He will share his journey as a young craftsman, designer, and artist, including the recent adaptation of three-dimensional modeling and printing into his metalworking practice.

Yoon has exhibited his work in the United States and internationally. He also has received several international awards, and has been featured in or included in numerous publications.

This year’s symposium brings together nationally and internationally known artists working in metals, clay, mixed media, printmaking, sculpture and photography.
