ADOT board set to meet in Yuma today
Session begins at 9 a.m.
The Arizona State Transportation Board will be in Yuma today for its monthly meeting, to hear reports on local issues and projects as well as deal with items of statewide significance.
The session will begin 9 a.m. in the council chambers at Yuma City Hall, 1 City Plaza. The board regularly holds some meetings away from its Phoenix base in communities across the state, though it has been five years since it’s come to Yuma.
Items on the board’s agenda include a report from Paul Patane, Southwest District engineer, about current and upcoming construction projects, district operations, maintenance and regional transportation studies.
Also of local interest will be an update on the status of efforts to designate parts of former U.S. Route 80, including those in eastern Yuma County, as a historic route.
Statewide items the board members will be voting on include the 2019-2023 Tentative 5-Year Transportation Facilities Construction Program, the Statewide Long Range Transportation Plan and numerous construction contracts.
The transportation board’s members are appointed by the governor to advise the Arizona Department of Transportation director, awards construction contracts, and has final authority on establishing, opening, relocating, altering, vacating or abandoning any portion of a state route or state highway.
