The overall gross winners in the Country Club Ladies Invitational Feb. 8-9 were Carrie CampbellWood and Johnna Howard. Four teams tied for the overall net division championship: Sandy Lee and Darla Peterson, Connie Foster and Deb Perrault, Jeanette Golko and Judy Kossey, and Deb Petterson and Phyllis Mashburn.
Shannon Mason and Tiffany Humer were the DE ROJO flight gross winners, while Kathy Schmidt and Cindy Joel won the net division. In the DE AMARILLO flight, Heather Comeau and Diane Comeau won the gross division while Sharon Duncan and Della Cook won the net division. In the DE AZUL flight, Gina Brown and Larie Hash won the gross division while Valerie Shoemaker and Lola Stone won the net division. In the DE VERDE flight, Senait Smythe and Sandy Blair won the gross division while Sharren Weber and Karen Gallahger won the net division.
The annual Men’s Senior City Championship will be played Saturday and Sunday at Desert Hills Golf Course. The $60 entry fee must be paid by Wednesday; the field is limited to the first 80 paid entries. Players may contact the pro shop for entry or additional information.
The next Desert Hills Men’s Golf Association tournament will be a two-man blind draw format on March 3 with tee times starting at 8 a.m. Members may contact Bruce Clark at 580-6436 for entry or additional information.
At Fortuna De Oro Golf Course on Feb. 9, the mixed league best ball winners were Barry Moore, Darlene Barber, Kevin Bruetzmann and Kim Hery. Second place went to the team of Rick Erickson, Leo Maguire, Denis Dore and Jane Morrow
On Feb. 9 at Las Barrancas Golf Course, the Men’s Copper, Silver and Gold gross winners were Carl Fritz, Brian Healy and John Cullen. The net winners were Carl Fritz, John Cullen and David Richelderfer.
Louise and Gayle Mabey teamed with Janet and Gord Little to win the gross division of “Willies Couples” play at the Mesa Del Sol Golf Course on Sunday afternoon. Two teams tied for the net division play.
On Monday at the Foothills Par 3 Golf Course, the men’s gross winners were Bill Taylor, Butch Robideau and Ken Kajita. The net winners were Doug Zimmerman, Mike Dupuis and Rob Grause. The team winners were Dee Larson, Rollie Harris, Greg Leyva and Pablo Montano.
Terry Matthews. Normand Berube, Glen Rost and Yogi Parker posted 91 pro power points to win first place in the Mesa Del Sol Can/Am weekly play on Monday morning. Second place went to the team of Raymond Butler, Bill Pearson, Bill Swanland and Paul Follett with 88 points. Marty Schwab won the KP on the eighth hole and Hugh Strain won the KP on the 13th hole. The Deuce pot winners were Rickey Whitney, Hank Browning, Bill Swanland, Glen Rost, Murray MacDonald, Ray Starkey, Gordon Little, Len Fallis, Bert Scott, Norm Dowd, Martin Ritchie and Matt Whitaker.
At the Fortuna De Oro Golf Course, the Tuesday men’s league winners were Tigger Schnureur, Darwin Manz, Pete Barber and Bob Riddell. Second place went to the team of Al Nauss, Jeff Van Haastreet, Bruce Sherritt and Gordon Deitz.
On Tuesday at the Foothills Par 3 Golf Course, the ladies gross winners were Sherry Sack, Loretta Schnieder and Dona Laidlaw. The net winners were Suzanne Hammons, Wilma George and Bev Thornberg. The team winners were Lynn Ames, Lois Comeau, Debbi Allen and Bonnie Kierle.
On Tuesday at the Las Barrancas Golf Course, the Men’s Silver winners were Frank Russell, Keith Planadin and Steve Gartner. The net winners were Doug Mendel, Bob Selle and Frank Russell. The team winners were Dennis Adair, Richard Hallick, Gary Hill and Wayne Constantinoff.
Congratulations to Donna Lalonde for winning the Desert Hills Ladies Club Championship and to Lola Stone for winning February’s “Ace of the Month” play. The current leader in the President’s Cup play is Lola Stone; leading the Medallion cup play is Donna Lalonde. The KP Winners were Lola Stone, Sharren Weber, Sue Janney and Donna Lalonde.
In the Mesa Del Sol Monday ladies “three par misery” play, Terri Paden won first flight followed by Mary Kruse in second. Deb Peterson won the second flight with Lynne Barber in second. Eddie Medina won the third flight with MaryAnn Muldoon in second. Eunice Hoffman won the fourth flight with Donna Brown in second.
The gross flight winners in the Cocopah Ladies play on Tuesday morning were Bev Barker, Kay Krasovetz, Penny Lancaster and Flo Curran. The net flight winners were Mary Card, Kate Morris, Jackie Kachel and Terrie Helman. Every year the Ladies Club at Cocopah does a fundraiser for a worthy cause in the community of Yuma. This year they chose the Crossroads Missions and raised $1,210.
At Fortuna De Oro Golf Course on Wednesday morning, the Couples League winners were Pat Ginther, Lynn Ginther, Jeff VanHaastreet and Becky Fortie. Second place went to Gizela GiGillen, Rick Gillen, Kevin New and Donna Bommerbach.
Pam Herring, Henry Browning, Stephen Parrish, Joan Webb, Nancy Holmes, Garry Sletten and Sam Samples were all skin winners in the “Pinky’s Pick” play at Mesa Del Sol Golf Course on Wednesday morning.
At Fortuna De Oro Golf Course on Wednesday afternoon, the Couples League winners were Barry Moore, Evie Moore, Gary Klassen and Shari Klassen. The second place finishers were Brent Black, Fay McEachern, Brent Campbell and Jan Campbell.
Gayle Mabey, Bob Rehn, Terry Matthews and Reg Marshall were the top team winners in the “Krogman Follies” play at the Mesa Del Sol Golf Course on Wednesday morning. Second place went to the team of Ron Sterler, Ed McCoy, David Burtt and Jim Mitchell. Winning third place and a team skin was the team of Ray Starkey, Hugh Strain, Fred Hancewiez and Ron Breault.
On Wednesday at the Foothills Executive Golf Course, the men’s league gross winners were Frank Russell,, Steve Strahm and David Richelderfer. The net winners were Marv Glaser, Steve Strahm and Jim Fly. The team winners were Butch Stone, Dennis Phillips, Dale Radcliff and John Trotter.
At Fortuna De Oro Golf Course on Thursday morning, the Ladies League Championship flight leaders were Wendy Kennedy, Cathy McArthur, Becky Fortie and Joyce Fehr in flight one, Vergie Schaaf, Heather McKinnon, Lillian Holmes and Lois Dickey in flight two, and Fay McEachern, Jane Morrow, Gail Adlem and Shirley Couse in flight three.
