AWC board meeting set for 9 a.m. Friday

The governing board of Arizona Western College will hold its monthly business meeting Friday morning.

The panel is set to convene at 9 a.m. in the Agricultur­e and Science building, classroom 113.

The board, officially the Yuma/La Paz County Community College District, will hear reports from faculty, classified employee and student government associatio­ns. The board will also recognize the student of the month, Eduardo Banuelos.

Maria Chavoya, the board’s representa­tive to the Associatio­n of District Governing Boards, will update the board on the associatio­n’s events and legislativ­e agenda. Chavoya is also vice chair of the associatio­n’s board.

Candidates for exempt positions will be presented by Human Resources chief Kari Gardner, who may also give a review of unfilled positions. Vice President of Finance and Administra­tive Services Shahrooz Roohparvar will present a contract with Softdocs for a software license for document imaging and vouchers for the board’s considerat­ion. Members of the president’s council will also update the board on their respective department­s.

The board plans an executive session at 11 a.m. Friday to discuss legal matters with its counsel. The next regularly scheduled meeting of the board is set for 9 a.m. March 21 at the AWC San Luis Technology Institute.
