Clinic offers help with filing for naturalization
Eligible Yuma-area residents can get help preparing their applications for naturalization at a free citizenship clinic set for March 10 in San Luis, Ariz.
The clinic will take place from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the San Luis campus of Arizona Western College, 1340 N. 8th Ave., but those wishing to attend must register in advance.
Volunteers from six organizations will provide help in filling out the naturalization applications that are submitted to the department of Citizenship and Immigration Services (CIS).
The six organizations are Campesinos Sin Fronteras, Chicanos Por La Causa, the Mexican Consulate in Yuma, AWC, the Comite de Bien Estar’s Border Financial Resources office and the Yuma County office of U.S. Rep. Raul Grijalva.
People can register to attend the clinic at Campesinos Sin Fronteras offices in Somerton, 663 E. Main St., and San Luis, 800 E Juan Sanchez Blvd.; Chicanos Por La Causa in Somerton, 308 E. Main St., or the Mexican Consulate, 298 S. Main St. in Yuma.
“We do the clinics with the goal of providing the opportunity for citizenship to so many residents who have been eligible, but who for lack of information or economic resources have not done it,” said Emma Torres, executive director of Campesinos Sin Fronteras.
