Antelope baseball wins again, now 5-0

Gila Ridge softball tops San Luis

The Antelope baseball team improved to 5-0 for the first time in a decade with an 8-7 victory over Mohave Accelerate­d on Monday.

Brandon Jaime (3-for-4, double, RBI), Dylan Thomas (2-for-3, 3 RBIs) led the way offensivel­y for the Rams (5-0 AIA, 2-0 region).

Antelope led, 7-4, in the sixth before Mohave Accelerate­d tied the game and threatened to do more damage. But Jaime came on in relief with the bases loaded and got a strikeout to escape the jam. In the bottom of the frame, Xavier Carrillo scored on a wild pitch to put the Rams back on top. Jaime then struck out the side in the top of the seventh to secure the win.

Brady Jameson started the game on the mound for Antelope and struck out eight batters.

Antelope plays at San Pasqual today.

PREP SOFTBALL Gila Ridge 14, San Luis 4

Dori Pulido went 2-for-3 with two doubles, one RBI and two runs scored for the Sidewinder­s (0-3 AIA). The Hawks improved to 2-1 AIA with the win.

Mohave Accelerate­d 12, Antelope 2

Veronica Leon went 2-for-3 for the Rams, who dropped to 3-2 AIA and 0-2 region with the loss.

PREP BOYS TENNIS

Antelope 8, Odyssey Institute 1

Alex Jimenez won 4-6, 6-3, 10-8 in the No. 1 singles match, while No. 2 Isaac Filerio (6-4, 7-5), No. 3 Kristopher Reyes (6-1, 6-2), No. 4 Alberto Espinoza (6-1, 6-1) and No. 5 Daniel Reyes (6-0, 6-2) all won in straight sets. The Rams (1-0 AIA) swept all three doubles matches.

PREP GIRLS TENNIS Odyssey Institute 6, Antelope 1

Julie Reyes won her singles match 6-3, 6-0 for the lone Antelope victory.

GIRLS WRESTLING

San Pasqual had two girls wrestlers place at the unofficial state meet this past weekend at Camp Verde High School — Layla Velasquez took second at 155 pounds, and Mary Jane Barley took third at 110 pounds.

For Kofa, Carolina Moreno took first.
