New member to join P&Z Commission
5 cases to be considered Monday
A new member, Gregory Counts, will be introduced during the Yuma Planning and Zoning Commission meeting to be held at 4:30 p.m. Monday in the Public Works Training Room, 155 W. 14th St.
The commissioners will also elect a chair and vice chair for this year.
The group will then hold public hearings for five cases, four of which have been continued from the Feb. 12 meeting, which was canceled due to a lack of quorum.
The first hearing centers on a General Plan amendment request by Barry Olsen, on behalf of South Avenue B LLC, to change the land use designation from Medium Density Residential to High Density Residential for 5.9 acres located at 1421 S. Avenue B. This is the second of two hearings for this case.
The second hearing is in connection with a request by Steven Garnica, on behalf of GreenLine Holdings, for a conditional use permit that would allow a gymnasium/health studio in the Light Industrial District, on property located at 1219 E. 21st St.
The third case is also for a conditional use permit request, this one made by N. Bruce Jacobson, on behalf of Pro-Med of Yuma, which would allow a large nursing and personal care facility in the Transitional District, on property located at 2271 S. Ridgeview Drive.
In the fourth case, the commission will consider a request by Vega and Vega Engineering, on behalf of TNNA Investments, for rezoning of .16 acres from the Light Industrial/Infill Overlay District to the Low Density Residential/Infill Overlay District, located at 978 S. 1st Ave.
The last case was originally heard at the Jan. 22 meeting, but staff is presenting it again to ensure the placement and numbering of the Sections, Illustrative Examples and Table of Uses are shown in a clear and more understandable sequence. No changes to the ordinance wording have been made.
The city is requesting an amendment to Title 15, Chapter 154, Section 19 of the Zoning Code to include guidelines and development standards for personal wireless communication facilities in the Public Right-of-Way.
