Gerald Larrabee won the 2018 Mesa Del Sol Gross Club Championsh­ip after being tied with Mike St Claire after two rounds of play on Friday and Saturday and then won the sudden death playoff on the second hole on Saturday afternoon. Tom Mozley carded a two-round total net score of -16-under par 128 to win the net Club Championsh­ip. The gross flight winners were Mike St Claire, Marty Schwab, Larry Kossey and Bill Slade. The net flight winners were Ray Butler, Paul Follett, Ken Givens and Jack Parker.

Bobby Contreras and Jose Rodriguez shot a best ball gross score of 3-under par 69 to win the first flight gross division of the Desert Hills Men’s Golf Associatio­n Blind draw tournament played on Saturday morning. Second place went to Bill Mendenhall and Nate Townsend at even par with John Plueger and Korey Han taking third place at one stroke back. Alex Munoz and Tony Deanda were the first flight net division winners with Rennie Dixon and Daryl Bugarin winning second place. In the second flight the gross division winners were Miguel Zendejas and Alvin LaLonde with Dick McGlothlin and Felix Ochoa taking second place. The second flight net division went to the team of Jose Campos and Steve Schulte with Dan Maes and Bruce Clark taking second place. The KP winners were Bobby Contreras, Dave Maehling, Alex Munoz and Richie Cervantes.

Over the last two weeks, the Foothills Golf Complexes have been holding their annual golf club championsh­ips and the results were as follows:

• Men’s Par 3 championsh­ip: the overall gross champion was Bill Taylor, the second-place runner-up was Dave Fritz, and the low net champion was Denny Young.

• Women’s Par 3 championsh­ip: the overall gross champion was Loretta Schneider, the second-place runner-up was Bev Thornburg, and the low net champion was Linda Wilder.

• Men’s Foothills championsh­ip: the overall gross champion was Frank Russell, the second-place runner-up was Bill Taylor, and the low net champion was Butch Robideau.

• Women’s Foothills championsh­ip: the overall gross champion was Loretta Schneider, the second-place runner-up was Val Willick, and the low net champion was Susan Clarke.

• Men’s Las Barrancas championsh­ip: the overall gross champion was Keith Planidin, the second-place runner-up was Hubert Gartner, and the low net champion was Al Somers.

• Women’s Las Barrancas championsh­ip: the overall gross champion was Loretta Schneider, the second-place runnerup was Dorothy Gartner, and the low net champion was Laurie Russell.

Lorainne and Ron Breault teamed with Joan and Wayne Webb for a team gross score of 58 to win first place in Willies couples play at the Mesa Del Sol Golf Course on Sunday afternoon. Debbie and Randy Rapien and Karen and Dave Finley won the net division with a score of 54.7.

At the Fortuna De Oro Golf Course, the Thursday Ladies Golf winners were Linda Wilkie, Nancy Ostrum, Bonnie Hansen and Winnie Gellner in first place, Brenda Morden, Judy Zehrung and Deb Frost in second place, and Becky Fortie, Lorna Anderson, Dianne Sondrol and Dorothy Crow in third place.

Ken Givens, George Alcorn, David Burtt and Leonard Berube posted 89 pro power points to win first place in the weekly Can/Am play at the Mesa Del Sol Golf Course on Monday morning. Second place went to the team of Ron Breault, Hugh Strain, Clifford Weber and Terry Matthews with 85 points. The KP winners were Tony Kossey on the fifth hole and Sam Boyd on the 17th hole. The Deuce Pot winners were Ken Givens, Ray Butler, Jake Fehr, Hank Browning, Norm Berube, Ron Cherry, Bert Scott and Gary Davidson.

Dave Schwarts teamed with Dana Brown, Keith Swearinger and Knute Hammer for a scrambling score of 5-under par 67 to win the Moose Lodge weekly league play at the Mesa Del Sol Golf Course on Tuesday morning. The secondplac­e finishers were Jimmy Billisbach, Greg Edwards, Jack Schenak and Shirley Sherley.

At the Fortuna De Oro Golf Course, the Wednesday couples league best ball winners were Pete Barber, Darlene Barber, Jim Thompson and Donna Walker in first place, Ken Essink, Linda Essink, Rick Gillen and Gizela Gillen in second place, and Larry Smith, Elaine Farris, Harry Viznei and Shirley Viznei in third place.

David Givens won first place in the weekly mixed “Pinky’s Pick” play at the Mesa Del Sol Golf Course on Wednesday morning with Garry Sletten taking second place and Ray Throckmort­on taking third place. Cliff Webber, Gerry Larrabee, Jack Parker and Mike Mikkola were the remaining four winners. The skin winners were Wayne Webb, Cheryl Mikkola, Albert Johnson, Ann Weber, Jack Parker and Garry Sletten.

At the Fortuna De Oro Golf Course, the Tuesday men’s league winners were Dave Nicholls, Ron Millar, Charlie Kline and Jerome Brekke in first place, Bob Duffy, Dan Michel, Ken Wells and Jerry Morden in second place, and Phil Rose, Ken Burris, Doug Bolin and Henry Nizynski in third place.

The 11th Annual John V. Contreras Memorial Golf tournament was played March 4 at the Desert Hills Golf Course with T C Covarrubia­s and Carlos Gallegos winning first place in the gross division with a playoff over Bill Bort and Billy Mendenhall. Third place went to the team of Mario Robles and Alex Munoz. The net division winner was Jordan and Maris Grasis with second place going to Brad Sellers and Andy Rico followed by Felix Ochoa and Steve Hobbs. The skin winners were TC Covarrubia­s and Carlos Gallegos and James Contreras and Leonard Gomez.

At the Fortuna De Oro Golf Course, the Thursday ladies league winners were Linda Wilkis, Teresa Gordon, Bonnie Hanson and Winnie Geliner in first place, Brenda Morden, Nancy Ostrum, Pat Bergen and Deb Frost in second, and Kim Hery, Kim Chesnovar, Lillian Holmes and Dorothy Crow in third.

Dianne Plumb won the Cocopah Ladies Club gross division “Ace of the Year Tournament” on Wednesday morning. The gross flight winners were Gwen Failler, Marian Marston, Lynn Bosomworth, Laurie Krumm and Becky Hazen. The net “Ace of the Year” was Deb Perrault and the net flight winners were Wendy Kennedy, Charmaine Bird, Diana Carmen and Terrie Helman.

Lynn Thompson carried teammates Ron Stirler, Dale Smith and Jerry Olson to a first-place finish in the weekly “Krogman Follies” play at the Mesa Del Sol Golf Course on Wednesday morning with 78 pro power points. Second place went to the team of Sam Boyd, Wayne Gunion, Bert Scott and Charles Butts.

Donna Lalonde was the Desert Hills Ladies Club Gross Medallion tournament winner with a two-day total score of 162 with Betty Stewart winning the March “Ace of the Month” with a net score of 68. The odd hole tournament flight winners were Sue Janney and Carole Hindl, Karen Gallagher and Diane Peters, and Mary Schueler and Sharren Weber. The KP winners were Judy Goldbar, Donna Lalonde, Lola Stone and Sue Janney.

Jacque Bater carded a gross score of 88 to lead the first round of the Yuma Country Club ladies championsh­ip with Kim Walder, Lydia Couch, Kathie Bone and Sue Janney tied for second place in the gross division at 89. Kim Walker was the net leader with Kathie Bone second and Una Schroter and Elsie Steen tied for third.

Mary Kruse won the overall ladies club championsh­ip at the Mesa Del Sol Golf Course played March 1 and March 5. The gross division flight winners were Mary Kruse, Sue Morgenthal­er, Colleen Scott and Phyllis Mashburn. The net division flight winners were Joan Webb, Lynne Barber, Betty Szmyrko and Dona Conzelman. The skin winners were Phyllis Mashburn, Betty Szmyrko, Donna Lalonde, Mary Kruse, Shannon Mason, Joan Webb, Pam Upayokin, JoAnn Givens and Ardean Ouellette.

The gross flight winners for the Mesa Del Sol Ladies Club play on Thursday morning were Mary Kruse, Connie Donner, Nancy Holmes and Lorraine Breault. The net flight winners were Dorothy Gartner, Sue Morgenthal­er, Pam Brown, Louise Mabey, Iris Pallas and Linda Williams. The low putts winner was Jo-Anne Lambert and the skin winners were Mary Kruse, Louise Mabey, Carolyn Tainsh Darla Peterson, Nancy Holmes and Louise Mabey.
