GR baseball beats Kofa for 1st time since 2015
The Gila Ridge baseball team picked up a big win Tuesday, beating Kofa 8-1 on the road.
Ramces Urias fired a complete game for the Hawks, and also went 3-for-4 with a double offensively. Ryan Hoskins went 2-for-3 with a double and five RBIs, while Andres Cota went 1-for-3 with a double.
It marked the first time since 2015 that the Hawks (1-3 AIA) have beaten the Kings (22).
Gerardo Hernandez was the winning pitcher for the Sidewinders, going the first four innings and allowing only four hits.
Offensively for San Luis, Alexis Castaneda went 2-for-3 with four RBIs.

Frankie Rodriguez struck out 11 batters for the Warriors. Cesar Cerda, Josiah Montague, Cesar Vega and Horacio Orasco were the team’s offensive leaders.
PREP GIRLS TENNIS Kofa 6, Yuma High 3
The Kings won five of six singles matches and one of three doubles matches. Their singles winners were: No. 1 Valeria Anguiano, No. 2 Nataly Prieto, No. 3 Alexa Garcia, No. 5 Isayra Martinez and No. 6 Brisa Otanez.
Anguiano and Prieto also won their No. 1 doubles match.
JUCO SOFTBALL AWC streak comes to screeching halt
The Arizona Western softball team’s 15-game winning streak came to an end Tuesday with a pair of lopsided losses at Eastern Arizona.
The Matadors lost game one 11-3 and game two 10-2 to fall to 24-11 overall and 18-6 ACCAC on the season.
