Fire House Facts
For the week of March 11-17, the Yuma Fire Department responded to 271 emergency calls for service, including:
• 7 general fire response
Including: A strong smell of gas outside a commercial building, fire set between 2 houses in a yard, a palm tree fire, a trailer fire in a County pocket, an illegal debris fire in a yard, a stove fire, and various alarms.
• 2 mutual aid
Including: Called to assist Rural Metro with a medical emergency and a brush fire in the county.
• 18 motor vehicle crashes
Including: 2 involving motorcycles, 1 involving a light pole, 2 involving pedestrians, 1 involving a house, 1 involving a wall, 2 involving semi-trucks, and 1 involving a rollover.
• 227 other medical emergencies (serious to minor)
Including: 18 for difficulty breathing, 15 for chest pain, 35 for falls, 16 for unconscious people, 8 seizure cases, 8 possible stroke cases, 2 for intoxicated persons, 3 for people under the influence of drugs, 7 for people with psychiatric problems, 1 for dehydration, 6 for medical alarms, 1 for children locked in a vehicle, 1 for allergic reactions, 2 for choking, 18 for altered or decreased level of consciousness, 1 for fever, 7 for diabetic emergencies, 7 for man down calls, 2 for uncontrolled bleeding, 3 for bad headaches, 4 for assaults, 2 for back pain, 19 for abdominal pain, 2 pregnancy related, 4 for lacerations, 1 for a 3 yr old whose finger was closed in a door, and other illnesses and injuries.

Including: 1 for a ring stuck on a finger, 1 for arcing wires in a department store freezer, 1 for a snake removal, 2 for fuel leaking from vehicles, 1 for a large fire in a yard, 1 for a fire started next to a restaurant, 2 for down power lines, and 1 for a debris fire in a yard, and various alarms.
