• President Trump reluctantly signed the budget bill into law and blasted Congress for spending too much. The bill he signed just happened to allocate $30 million to the John F. Kennedy Center in Washington. It’s been proven over the years as the best place to launder the Playmate hush money.
• President Trump named CIA director Mike Pompeo, a known hard-liner on Iran, as the next secretary of state last week. This is no time to mess with the U.S. With war hawk John Bolton’s appointment, the only moderate left is Secretary of Defense Jim Mattis, and his nickname is Mad Dog.
• President Trump appointed super-hawk John Bolton as his National Security Advisor, alarming the world. The appointment is considered to be the nearest to declaring war on Iran and North Korea. I read about John Bolton’s appointment in the Los Angeles Times and the Book of Revelation.

I have been a political junkie since 5th grade. The Nixon/Humphrey election of ’68 was my first observation of the electoral process. The Vietnam War was still raging, Woodstock was in the offing and Neil Armstrong was soon going to set foot on the surface of the moon.
Fast forward through a number of administrations since that time and we arrive in March of 2018. The $1.3 trillion omnibus spending bill that passed Congress and was signed into law by President Trump condemns our children and our children’s children to more indebtedness than they will ever be able to pay back. There is no fiscal restraint or responsibility, only a concern to placate the masses for the next election cycle.
George Washington, Thomas Jefferson and John Adams were folks that risked their lives and fortunes to establish our Republic and the freedoms we cherish today. The nation and our posterity were done a monumental disservice with this legislation. What a sad lot we suffer from now.
Ronald Reagan once said, “Government is like a baby: An alimentary canal with a big appetite at one end and no sense of responsibility at the other.”
Time to break out the Pampers.
As a substitute teacher in classes at all of the Yuma-area public high schools, I often wonder what the students in those classes would do if they were denied access to their cellphones. Would they all become engaged in completing their assigned work? If they completed the assigned work, would they study for another class? If they had no other work to do, would they read a book? Most importantly, would respect return to the classroom environment? I wonder.
Great 3/23/18 letters to the editor from Don Schellenberg and Fred Richard regarding guns, the NRA, God, etc. However, I must warn them of being labeled an “extremist” by the left. Yes, according to Nancy Pelosi, I am an extremist. Why?

We are all saddened by the needless tragedies and wonder why they happen and what could be done. Why do some choose to hurt others? Along with your thoughts, likely reasons are lack of solid formation, mental disturbance, false beliefs, bigotry, hatred, revenge, pride, fame, copy-cat, etc. All these show a lack of faith, whatever means used. We all have a role in the future in standing up for ourselves and one another. We must freely pray to the living God and live his commandments in faith and truth. If we would, we would have the help we need to discern means of correction of the causable factors.
All of us have the responsibility to set good examples, to pass on true values to others, and to walk upright in a world with false value traps and little compassion. Let us go forth with love and respect for the living God, for ourselves and for others.
