Sidewinders stay perfect
San Luis blows out Cibola in 2nd game of series to improve to 11-0 in AIA play
The San Luis baseball team took advantage of every mistake that Cibola made Wednesday to stay undefeated in AIA play.
The Sidewinders led throughout the game en route to an 11-1 blowout over six innings.
The Raiders (5-4 AIA, 0-2 region) had four errors that extended innings and only gave more time for the entire San Luis lineup to get into the game. Eight Sidewinders had hits and all nine players in the lineup reached base. The game was a bit different than the one the two teams played a day earlier, which the Sidewinders won 1-0 after escaping a bases-loaded jam in the top of the seventh.
Arturo Gil controlled Wednesday’s game from the mound for San Luis (11-0, 2-0) with a complete-game win. Gil stuck out six and gave up one run.
“I actually know the

players,” Gil said. “I know how to pitch to them. It’s all planned from the beginning.”
San Luis took an early 1-0 lead in the first inning after Gerardo Hernandez led the game off with a walk, steal and two passed balls to get around the bases.
“They’re a great team and you can’t do that against a team that good,” Cibola coach Larsen Jones said. “There’s a reason that they are 11-0. They took advantage of the spots that we gave them.”
