Cibola baseball hands San Luis 1st AIA loss
After dropping the first two games of its series against San Luis, the Cibola baseball team bounced back with an 8-4 victory in the finale Thursday.
For the Sidewinders (111 AIA, 2-1 region), the loss was their first of the regular season.
Joaquin Martinez, Ricky Munoz and David Cuadros had three hits each for the Raiders (6-4, 1-2), who trailed 4-3 after four innings but then scored two in the fifth and three in the sixth to seize control. Martinez pitched the final 3 2/3 innings, allowing only two hits and no runs, to earn the victory. Gabriel Valenzuela and Daniel Aceves had two hits each for San Luis, while Christopher Bazua (4.2 IP, 10 H, 5 ER) took the loss on the mound.

After going nearly 365 days between victories, the Criminals (2-9 AIA, 2-1 region) have now won two straight with the series sweep of Roughriders (2-9, 0-2).
Jaiden Haddock led the way by going 3-for-4 with a triple at the plate and pitching six innings of two-hit, three-run ball. Steven Cisneros added two hits for the Yuma High offense.
PREP SOFTBALL Raiders sweep Sidewinders
The Cibola softball team beat San Luis by scores of 12-0 and 16-0 on Thursday to improve to 12-0 on the regular season and 3-0 in 6A Southern play.
In the first game, Kamryn Moctezuma went 3-for-4 with one double, one triple and three RBIs; Stephanie Tapia also had three RBIs, while Ela Henry hit a solo home run.
Nicole Villa (3-for-4, 2B, 3B), Kaleiah Tatlonghari (3-for-5, 2 RBIs), Madison Mathews (2-for-3, HR) led the way offensively in the second game.
Pitching-wise, Alanie Ornelas tossed a one-hitter with seven strikeouts in game one and Ginnellie Cordova allowed just three hits in four innings in game two.
Antelope 12, Odyssey Institute 10
Heidi Rios (3-for-4, 4 runs) and Veronica Leon (3-for-4, 3 runs) led the way offensively for the Rams (9-4 AIA, 1-4 region), while Katelyn Quinonez earned the win in the circle.
