Every time I go by Dudley’s, 11375 S. Foothills Blvd., the parking lot is jammed-packed. So it surprised me to hear that the last day for this season — and perhaps always — is today.
A Bailey family member told me that due to a family situation the restaurant is for sale or lease. They are hoping someone will take over the restaurant and continue running it, perhaps at the start of the next season. The restaurant is truly a “turnkey” opportunity for someone.
“We would really like to sell or lease it to someone local that is looking for a second location for an existing business or someone looking for the opportunity to start their own business.”
Lora Bailey and family opened the restaurant in January, after the Copper Miner Restaurant closed. The family has a long history of restaurant business in Astoria, Oregon, and Yuma. Her sister, Jodi McCallister, helped her open Dudley’s. Thirty years ago Lora’s parents, Darrell and Evelyn Davis, along with her sister Jodi, owned the Orange Tree Restaurant in the Foothills.
Bailey owns the building and never considered opening her own eatery there, until the former restaurant operator allegedly left town without paying employees.
