YUHSD talk to have Spanish translation
Yuma Union High School District will conduct its second community meeting with stakeholders called “Community Conversations” to discuss topics of interest within high school education and the community.
The meeting is scheduled for 6-7:30 p.m. Monday (April 23) at Yuma High School’s Snider Auditorium, with the focus, again, about student safety. It will include Spanish translation throughout.
“Our first meeting went exceptionally well,” YUHSD Superintendent Gina Thompson said. “We had an opportunity to hear from students, parents, teachers and community members, and I think we all walked away from it with a new perspective. One of the suggestions that came out of the meeting, from several individuals, was that we needed to conduct a similar meeting in Spanish. To help reach as many members of our diverse community as possible, we worked to set things up right away.”
Thompson and district and campus leadership as well as officials from the Yuma Police Department will be present. Artifacts will be presented and, after presentation and clarification, questions will be taken from the audience. All parents are welcome.
Future YUHSD Community Conversations (in English and Spanish) will be announced at a later date with host locations rotating to campuses throughout the district.
