Fire House Facts
During the week of April 15-21, the Yuma Fire Department responded to 269 emergency calls for service, including:
• 10 general fire response
Including: A fire in a stove hood exhaust fan, a vehicle fire in a driveway, a house fire involving a car and carport, and various alarms.
• 1 mutual aid
Including: Called to assist Rural Metro with a medical emergency in the County.
• 11 motor vehicle crashes
Including: 1 involving a rollover and fire, and 1 involving a pole.
• 226 other medical emergencies (serious to minor)
Including: 18 for difficulty breathing, 17 for chest pain, 26 for falls, 17 for unconscious people, 15 seizure cases, 1 possible stroke case, 1 for intoxicated person, 4 for drug overdoses, 14 for people with psychiatric problems, 1 for dehydration, 5 for medical alarms, 2 for children locked in vehicles, 2 for choking, 14 for altered or decreased level of consciousness, 3 for fevers, 2 for broken bones, 5 for diabetic emergencies, 1 for a spider bite, 6 for man down calls, 2 for uncontrolled bleeding, 1 for burns, 3 for bad headaches, 1 for a gunshot wound, 4 for assaults, 8 for back pain, 10 for abdominal pain, 2 pregnancy related, 1 for lacerations, 1 for a juvenile burned by spilled boiling water, 1 for a near drowning of a 2 year old in a hotel pool, 1 for a juvenile hit on the head with a baseball, 1 for a crushed foot, 1 for a person hit and injured by a forklift, 1 for a juvenile who ran into a pole, 1 for a juvenile who drank a bottle of cold medicine, 1 for a person hit on the head by a food truck awning, and other illnesses and injuries.

Including: 2 for snake removals, 1 for a vehicle fire, 1 for kids locked in a room of a house, 1 for a person locked out of a house with something cooking inside, 1 for a damaged power pole, 1 for a light pole damaged by a tree limb, 1 for a downed power line, and various alarms.
