getting bigger and stronger.”

Throughout the season Kuzniak had to look to Ramirez and last year’s Golfer of the Year, senior Ethan Upayokin, to step in and help some of the younger players on the team. He thinks the experience and temperament that those two guys had on the course were big in leading the team to winning 10 matches.

“Those two guys at the top, not just their ability on the course, but their ability as teammates helped guys and helped coach other guys on the team,” Kuzniak said. “They wouldn’t just think about themselves, but they would always help their teammates. It was like having two extra coaches out there.”

Ramirez, who still has another year left playing for Gila Ridge, does hope to eventually go on to play in college once his high school time is up.

In the meantime he’ll probably spend just as much time on the course, considering that he now has a job at Mesa Del Sol Golf Course.
