Yuma Sector Border Patrol agents arrested a Mexican national with prior criminal convictions of indecent exposure and molestation of a child under 18, after he illegally entered the United States Saturday evening.

Agents also apprehend three U.S. citizens on Sunday who fled the I-8 immigration checkpoint in a stolen vehicle.

In the Saturday incident, which happened at approximately 8 p.m., agents from the Yuma Station arrested Luis Robles-Gonzalez, a 55-year-old Mexican national, near the Colorado River just east of the Andrade, California Port of Entry.

During processing, agents identified RoblesGonzalez as an aggravated felon previously deported for failing to register as a sex offender in Santa Rosa, California. He had also been convicted of indecent exposure and molestation of a child under 18.

Robles-Gonzalez was last removed from the United States through the San Luis, Arizona Port of Entry on May 12. During additional questioning, he admitted that he was attempting to travel to San Francisco, Calif., to live and work.

Robles-Gonzalez will be charged with re-entry after deportation as an aggravated felon. He is also the second felony sex offender caught by Yuma Sector Border Patrol agents in as many months.

In May, Yuma station agents arrested 54-year-old Hector Gutierrez-Perez, near County 8½ Street and Levee Road, after he illegally entered the country again.

GutierrezPerez had multiple felony convictions out of Bakersfield and Santa Cruz, Calif., including unlawful sexual intercourse with a minor, obstructing a public officer and battery on a person.

In the Sunday incident, at approximately 11:45 p.m. Wellton station agents sent a 1993 Honda Hatchback to the secondary inspection area of the checkpoint for an additional search.

Instead of pulling into secondary, the vehicle fled the checkpoint at a highrate of speed.

One hour later, Border Patrol agents discovered the abandoned vehicle near Avenue 25 E. A search of the area was then conducted, with agents locating and arresting all three suspects.

Record checks on the vehicle revealed it was stolen out of Oregon. All three individuals were turned over to the Yuma County Sheriff’s Office.
