ABATE RUN

WHEN: 8:15 a.m. WHERE: Begins at Main Street, in front of Gowan Building GOING ON: The Yuma chapter of ABATE will have its annual Memorial Day poker run beginning at Main Street to Ocean-to-Ocean bridge for wreath laying, to Desert Lawn to Sunset Vista then to VFW 8242 post on Highway 95 for a noon flag raising ceremony; afterwards the poker run will leave from VFW 8242; poker run is open to everyone whether on a motorcycle or vehicle; open to public, sign up at the post

WREATH LAYING

WHEN: 9 a.m. WHERE: Ocean-to-Ocean Bridge, Gateway Park GOING ON: A brief welcome address in recognitio­n of Memorial Day; traditiona­l ceremony for those that lost their lives at sea; Gateway Park will be closed from dawn to 10 a.m. for ceremonies

WELLTON CEREMONY

WHEN: 9:45 a.m. WHERE: VFW Post 6790, 29389 Oakland Ave., Wellton GOING ON: A procession will lead from the post to Wellton cemetery, with a service at 10 a.m.; afterwards a hamburger and hot dog lunch back at the post 11 a.m.
