During the week of May 20-26, the Yuma Fire Department responded to 259 emergency calls for service, including:
• 9 general fire response
Including: A transformer box smoking, a yard fire, and various alarms.
• 1 mutual aid
Including: Called to assist Rural Metro with emergency medical call in the County.
• 11 motor vehicle crashes
Including: 1 involving 3 vehicles, 1 involving a bicycle, and 1 involving a pedestrian.
• 209 other medical emergencies (serious to minor)
Including: 20 for difficulty breathing, 11 for chest pain, 31 for falls, 10 for unconscious people, 11 seizure cases, 5 possible stroke cases, 3 for intoxicated persons, 5 for people under the influence of drugs, 3 for drug overdoses, 12 for people with psychiatric problems, 2 for dehydration or heat illness, 5 for medical alarms, 3 for children locked in vehicles, 4 for allergic reactions, 1 for choking, 10 for altered or decreased level of consciousness, 3 for fevers, 4 for diabetic emergencies, 6 for man down calls, 3 for uncontrolled bleeding, 1 for gunshot wound, 1 for alcohol poisoning, 7 for assaults, 2 for back pain, 11 for abdominal pain, 1 pregnancy related, 2 for lacerations, 1 for a finger injured by a falling garage door, and other illnesses and injuries.
